Tempered glass, insulating glass, and Laminated glass

Tempered glass, insulating glass, and Laminated glass

Tempered glass

Tempered glass is actually a kind of prestressed glass. It is processed by heating the glass to about 700 degrees near the softening point, then cooling it quickly and evenly.

It is commonly used in applications where the glass may be susceptible to breakage, such as windows, doors, and furniture.

Advantage

1. The strength is several times higher than that of ordinary glass.

2. It is safe to use. The tempered glass is also broken into small pieces without acute angle, which greatly reduces the harm to the human body.

Disadvantage

1. The tempered glass cannot be cut again.

2. Tempered glass has the possibility of self-explosion.

Insulating glass

Insulating glass is a type of window glazing that contains two or more layers of glass separated by a space to reduce heat transfer and provide improved thermal insulation.

Advantage

Excellent performances of heat insulation and sound insulation.

Laminated glass

Laminated glass is a composite glass product that is composed of two or more pieces of glass and permanently bonded with an interlayer film. The commonly used laminated glass interlayer films are PVB, SGP, EVA, and so on.

Advantages

1. Safe, if the glass breaks, the fragments will also be glued to the film to avoid injury.

2. Impact resistance, sound insulation, and thermal insulation are better than ordinary glass.
